Crooked River State Park, GA
This state park was our first trip with the RV outside of Florida and we were delighted with our trip. The campground is beautiful, spacious, and has activities for everyone. The park many activities, including, hiking on well maintained trails, boating launch, kayaking launches, fishing areas, bike rentals, mini-golf, nature centers, playgrounds, and more. We loved the wide hiking trails through the woods and along the river. The park has a large general store for check in and souvenir shopping. Crooked River offers both campsites and cabins. The campgrounds are open with little foliage or privacy, but the sites are spacious and give distance between sites. We selected site 14 because it backs up to the river and had a great view, along with sites 11 and 12. The trade off for the view was no sewer hookup. The camping area #2 (the outer loop) offers a little more privacy and the full hookups. We would choose the same site next time that we visit if it is available. In addition to a wonderful campground, St Mary’s GA has a lot to offer. We explored the McIntosh Sugarworks and the downtown historic St Mary’s. Next trip we are going to save time to explore Cumberland Island National Seashore. If you head over to this park, be ready to have a good time and remember your bug spray and noseeum repellent!
