St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA

This was our first stay at a KOA campground, and we were impressed. We went to check in and had multiple employees ready to help us check in. They gave us information about the campground and surrounding areas. Once we were ready to go, someone took us back to our campsite and helped us back into the site. We had selected an area online, but not a specific site. We were a little nervous about that, but it turned out great. We were on the side of the campgrounds that they called “away from the hustle and bustle”, but it seemed as though we were on the short term stay side of the campground. Our site backed up to the water and had a great view, right next to kayak rentals. We heard a lot of splashing right behind the mangroves, which turned out to be otters. We were close to our neighbors, but with the water view, it seemed okay. Our site had a concrete pad, which was really nice. The campground was clean, the bathrooms were clean, and we were really pleased with the service. When we were there the 30amp sites next to the water were closed, because they are upgrading to 50 amp which should be open in October of this year. The campsite was the perfect distance from all the local beaches and make it easy for us to get out and explore. We will stay again, in a water site.
