Lake Kissimmee State Park, FL

We stayed at Lake Kissimmee State Park for a quick weekend trip and enjoyed our stay.  We were looking for a quiet weekend to go for a hike and relax at our campsite.  The size and privacy of our campsite made us feel as though we were in the middle of nowhere.  Honestly, when we pulled up to our site our eyes almost popped out of our head it was so perfect.  We were able to open the shades on every window in our RV and not see another camper. The campground has 60 campsites with water and 30 amp electric hookups.  They also have pioneer camping and group camping areas available.  The campground has bathhouses, a dump station, and a camp store for your basic necessities.  They have miles of well-maintained hiking trails, which was our favorite activity.  The park is on Lake Kissimmee, making it a great place to put your boat or kayak in the water for the day.  The Cow Camp was not open this season, but we are hoping to return to check it out in the future.  Although, it does feel like the park is located in the middle of nowhere, it is located near Lake Wales so plenty of restaurants and grocery stores.  If you are looking for something to do in the area, check out Bok Towers, Spooky Hill, or take an airboat ride to search for alligators.  One negative about staying here is the low cell signal, even with a signal booster.  Signal exists for calls and texts, but very slow for everything else.  We would not have been able to work remote from this park due to our work requirements.  Check out our blog about our internet set-up for more information. Overall, we loved our weekend getaway and will plan to go back to visit.
